Hospital Manager, Alexys Velez, with a canine friendAlexys recently graduated from the University of Florida with her bachelor's degree in Animal Sciences and Business. She has been a part of the Oaks family for five years. She plans to further her education and pursue a master’s degree at the University of Florida in Animal Shelter Medicine. Her ultimate goal is to start a boarding/adoption agency facility.

Alexys loves to run with her dogs, Carlos and Dobby, as well as cuddle at home on the couch with her cats, Neville, Bellatrix, Gimli, and Allen. She also enjoys dancing, traveling, going to the beach, and staying at home when she can.

Veterinary Technician, Hannah Child, with a canine friendOriginally from Florida Keys, Hannah moved to Gainesville to pursue her dream of becoming a veterinarian. She is currently attending the University of Florida to study Animal Science. She plans to earn a DVM degree from the University of Florida’s College of Veterinary Medicine and specialize in exotics. Her ultimate goal is to open a rehabilitation center for injured wildlife in South Africa.

Hannah loves to travel with her rescue pup, Calypso, and spend her free time at the beach.

Veterinary Technician, Jermia Holt, with a canine friendJermia is a technician whose compassion extends to all our patients and their families. She recently graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor's degree in Agricultural Education and Communication. Jermia aspires to be a veterinarian for small animals, specializing in emergency medicine.

In her free time, she plays the saxophone and cuddles with her rescue animals, Daryl and O’Malley. Jermia is truly a wonderful asset to our team.

Veterinary Technician, Paola Pardo, with a canine friendPaola was born in Colombia, grew up in Miami, and moved to Gainesville to attend the University of Florida where she earned her bachelor's degree in Animal Biology. Paola enjoys educating and working closely with all our Spanish speaking clients. She plans to attend veterinary school and specialize in small animal medicine.

In her spare time, Paola enjoys relaxing at home, trying out new vegetarian recipes, and going to music festivals. She is currently searching for her perfect fur-ever friend.

vet tech abbey mannings dog 200pxAbbey is one of our recently hired technicians that has transferred from Santa Fe College to the University of Florida after getting her Associates degree in Animal Science. She is currently attending the University of Florida, majoring in Animal Science with a specialization in Equine Science. She hopes to apply to the University of Florida Veterinary school and specialize in Wildlife and Shelter medicine.

In Abbey’s free time she enjoys playing with her newly adopted kitten Pam who was an adoptee at Oaks. Abbey also likes spending time hanging out with her friends, playing video games with her brothers and watching all the new shows on Netflix.

vet tech kaylee sheffield cat Kaylee has been apart of the Oaks family since March of this year. She started out as a receptionist and recently became one of our technicians. Kaylee currently goes to Santa Fe College, and once she gets her AA, she plans to finish out her education at UF with a bachelors degree in Marine Biology.

Unsure of her future plans yet, Kaylee is interested in the idea of coastal biology research or becoming a veterinarian specializing in marine mammals. She has a love for the water and prefers to spend all her time by the pool or on the beach.

Kaylee's favorite activity is using all of her free time to play with her new kitten, Ellie. Kaylee also loves to do DIY projects and sleep.

Client Care Specialist, De'Andre Dade, with a canine friendDe’Andre is a long time sales consultant who, after many years, decided that he wanted to take his passion for customer care to a new field. He pays great attention to client needs and loves making our guests smile when they come in.

When De’Andre is not working, he loves spending time with his family, especially his 4-year-old daughter who is his heart and soul. Other interests include going to the movies, going out to eat, playing video games, reading comics, and playing a good game of basketball when he can.

Client Care Specialist, Sarah Stewart, with a canine friendSarah is a long time animal lover who has lots of experience in the health care field. She has two adorable German Shepherds, Ruger and Zoey, as well as a cat named Alicia, a rat named Thunder, a leopard gecko named Sunshine, and a goat named Casper.

In her free time, Sarah loves to cook, go to the beach, and spend time with her husband, Daniel, and sons, Jacob and Logan.
